LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY®

Sometimes you need to build an idea before you can really talk about it. LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® helps bring different perspectives together, explore complex challenges, and shape a shared direction.

How it works?

A question. A model.
A story. A shared exploration.

Depending on the workshop's objectives, we move from individual perspectives to shared models, exploring connections and reaching agreements. No building skills are required. What matters is the meaning each person gives to their model.

Which workshop type works best for you?

Exploring the Challenge

fresh perspectives
problem exploration
shared understanding

Duration: 2–3 hours

When a challenge is complex or people see a situation differently, making it visible can bring new clarity. We build models that reveal different experiences, perspectives, and potential barriers. Together, we explore how people, activities, and their environment influence one another, and identify which questions need further attention. Ideal for teams, leaders, and stakeholder groups who want to understand the underlying causes of a challenge before deciding on solutions.

Workshop outcomes:

a shared picture of the challenge and the factors influencing it;

greater visibility of different perspectives and important connections;

agreement on what needs further exploration or change.

Shared Vision and Strategic Direction

vision
priorities
role clarity

Duration: 4 hours

Where do we want to go, and what does that mean for us? Together, we create a shared picture of the desired future and explore what it will take to get there. Through models, we make different expectations visible, clarify priorities, and explore how different stakeholders can contribute to shared goals.

Ideal for leadership teams, organisations, and collaborative networks looking to shape a shared future direction or prepare for strategic decisions.

Workshop outcomes:

a visual representation and shared understanding of the desired future;

clearer priorities and an understanding of each stakeholder's contribution;

shared principles and agreed next steps.

Innovation and Ideas Lab

innovation
idea development
co-creation

Duration: 4–6 hours

When existing solutions no longer move things forward, it's time to explore a different approach. We give new ideas a tangible form, examine them from different perspectives, and build on one another's thinking to develop potential solutions. Models help us discover new opportunities, explore alternative approaches, and identify which ideas are worth developing further.Ideal for development teams, innovation projects, and organisations looking for new ways to improve services, processes, or collaboration.

Workshop outcomes:

new ideas and potential directions for solutions;

a shared understanding of the opportunities and limitations of different ideas;

selected ideas and next steps for testing them.

Our collaboration

We tailor each workshop’s focus and structure to your goals.

Define the purpose

We clarify the challenge you want to explore, identify who should be involved, and agree on what you want to achieve by the end of the workshop.

Design the workshop

We design a process around your objectives, select the right questions and activities, and plan how to move from individual perspectives to shared insights and conclusions.

Build, explore and capture the outcomes

We facilitate the process so that everyone has the opportunity to contribute. We help your team turn insights from the models into conclusions, agreements, and next steps. We document the outcomes and share them with you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Every collaboration starts with questions. Here are answers to some common ones. If yours isn’t covered, get in touch and let’s explore it together.

Do participants need to be good at building with LEGO bricks?

No. We begin with simple exercises that help everyone become familiar with the method. A model’s value lies in its meaning and the builder’s explanation.

Can LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® help with serious strategic questions?

Yes. The workshop centres on your actual question, whether that concerns a shared direction, collaboration, barriers to change or a new solution. The bricks make abstract ideas visible so the group can explore and refine them together.

How is this different from a regular discussion?

Each participant first builds their own response, then shares it with the group. This brings in perspectives that can get overlooked in a fast-moving conversation. Models provide a shared starting point for questions, connections and further ideas.

Will we leave one workshop with a finished strategy or solution?

That depends on the scope of the question and the time available. A single workshop can establish a shared direction, generate ideas or lead to concrete agreements. For a broader strategy or change initiative, it can provide a starting point for further development and testing.

How many people can participate in a workshop?

Workshops can be designed for both small teams and larger groups. The number of participants and the workshop's objectives determine its structure, duration, and the number of facilitators needed. We'll agree on the most suitable approach during the preparation process.

Can a workshop be part of a longer development or change process?

Yes. LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® can be integrated into a broader strategy, development, or change process. For example, it can help explore stakeholder perspectives, create a shared vision of the future, examine potential solutions, or make sense of planned changes.

Is LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® suitable for people who are sceptical about playful methods?

Yes. Participants don't need to consider themselves creative or playful. We begin with simple exercises to help everyone become familiar with the method before moving on to your organisation's real challenges. Building with LEGO bricks is a way to express ideas and support meaningful discussions, not an end in itself.

What happens to the models and outcomes after the workshop?

During the workshop, we document key models, insights, and agreements. Afterwards, we bring the outcomes together and share them with you so they can inform future discussions and actions. If needed, we can also help plan the next steps to turn workshop insights into meaningful change.
